Heddal Stav Church is the largest Stave Church in Norway which was built in the 1200s.

The Building

The church was built in about 1200, but it is founded wood in the church who are older than this. Because of that, there may have been a church here earlier than stave church. The building is characterized by many adornments through several eras. The church is not damaged by fire or natural disaster since it was built 800 years ago. Earlier there were probably a larger stave churches in Norway, but Heddal Stave Church is less than 26 meters high, 20 meters long and 16 meters wide. Therefore Heddal Stave Church Norway's largest stave church today. The church is still in regular use and are held worship services every Sunday.
